Happy Halloween! 🎃👻

Happy Halloween! 🎃👻

Halloween is full of treats and surprises for us, but let’s make sure it stays safe and fun for our furry friends too!

Here are a few tips to keep your pets safe this Halloween:

1. Watch Out for Toxic Treats:

While we enjoy chocolate and other sweets, they can be harmful—even deadly—for pets. Chocolate, raisins, xylitol (in sugar-free gum and candies), and alcohol are especially toxic for both dogs and cats. Keep these treats out of reach, and offer pet-safe alternatives like pumpkin-flavored treats or freeze-dried meat snacks.

2. Create a Calm Space:

Halloween excitement, visitors, and costumes can be overwhelming for animals. Make a quiet, comfortable space where your pet can relax away from the noise, especially if they’re nervous around new people or sudden noises.

3. Be Cautious with Costumes:

If you dress up your pet, make sure their costume doesn’t restrict movement, vision, or breathing, and avoid any loose parts that could be swallowed. Many pets prefer a simple, Halloween-themed bandana!

4. Mind the Door:

With trick-or-treaters coming and going, pets can slip outside unnoticed. Keep your pets secure inside or consider a baby gate to prevent escapes, especially if your dog or cat is curious or easily startled.

5. Decorations Check:

Be cautious with lit candles, pumpkins, and decorations with small parts or cords, as curious pets might knock them over or try to chew on them. Consider using battery-operated candles for added safety.

6. Choose Pet-Friendly Treats:

Include your pets in the celebration with treats that are safe and special for them—like dehydrated meats or pumpkin treats for dogs and freeze-dried fish for cats. You can even make your own pet-friendly treats at home!

With a few extra steps, you can make Halloween safe, fun, and memorable for the whole family—furry members included! Wishing you and your pets a spook-tacular evening filled with safe treats and happy memories! 🐾 🎃🐾

Warmly,

Tanja
